Lucian Bute (28-0, 23 KO’s) added yet another knockout to his record last night when he stopped Brian Magee (34-4-1, 24 KO’s)in the 10th round at the Bell Centre in Montreal Canada to retain his IBF Super Middleweight Title. In the first two rounds, the two seemed to feel each other out, but in round three both landed well. By round four Bute had set his pace and started to execute his game plan. Magee was dropped in rounds six and seven via Bute’s body shots. The fight was all Bute, and it was called off by the referee at 2:04 of the tenth round. This was only the second time Magee has been stopped the other fighter able to stop this game fighter was UK’s Carl Froch.
Bute mentioned he’d like to fight Kessler in either Las Vegas or Madison Square Garden, Kessler responded to the statement by saying he’ll kick his ass even if it’s in Montreal, I think this fight should be made and who cares where they fight just put this fight together.

Martinez KO’s Dzinziruk
Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26 KO’s) has again shown every boxing fan why he’s the best middleweight fighting today after he systematically beat formerly unbeaten Sergei Dziniruk (37-1, 23 KO’s) via an eighth round knockout Saturday night at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in CT.
From the first round Martinez the shorter of the two used his speed to outwork and out jab Dzinziruk. Martinez dropped Dzinziruk in the fourth, then again in the fifth. Martinez basically took Dzinziruk to boxing school, don’t get me wrong Dzinziruk was a game opponent and continued to try to land but Martinez’s speed and movement where just a bit too much for Dzinziruk. The end came at 1:43 of the eighth round after Martinez put Dzinziruk three times causing referee Steve Smoger to put an end to the fight.
In other action from Foxwoods on Saturday night, middleweight Andy Lee (25-1, 19 KO’s) did what boxing fans love to see, win with a come from behind knockout over previously unbeaten Craig McEwan (19-1, 10KO’s). McEwan controlled and dominated Lee in the first half of the fight with really nice combination punching, then as we’ve seen before in the sport of boxing the gas tank went empty and McEwan began to slow down and Lee began to press forward with urgency. Lee scored a knock down in round nine and finished McEwan in the tenth. The time of the stoppage was :56.
Cotto stops Mayorga
Miguel Cotto (36-2, 29KO’s) retained his WBA Super Welterweight Championship title via a knockdown/hand injury stoppage over the ever game Ricardo Mayorga (29-8-2, 23 KO’s) Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas NV. Cotto fought a really well disciplined fight against Mayorga. Cotto’s boxing skills where just a little better than Mayorga’s, who looked better than I can honestly say anyone expected. While both threw bombs at times during the fight, it was Cotto who’s punches where a bit sharper and had a little more thunder to them. You have to give Cotto credit for not accepting Mayorga’s attempts lure him into a slugfest. Not once in the fight did Cotto wither from Mayorga’s pressure, he seemed to have game plan and stuck to it.
After Cotto dropped Mayorga in the twelfth round, the only knockdown of the fight, Mayorga immediately began to complain about his left hand which seemed to be injured during the knockdown. Once he got up and as the fight resumed, Mayorga waived to referee Robert Byrd that he could not continue and the fight was stopped at :53 of the round.

An enthusiastic crowd packed Cordon Bleu Catering Hall in the Woodhaven section of Queens, New York and they were treated to a night of entertaining boxing that was promoted by New Legend Boxing Promotions. In the main event, featherweight Juan Dominguez (7-0, 5 KOs) scored a third round stoppage over Gabriel Gomez (4-1) in a battle of undefeated fighters that was scheduled for six rounds. Dominguez dropped Gomez in round one with a hard right hand. Dominguez equaled that in round three by scoring a second knockdown in round three. Later in the round Dominguez dropped Gomez with a right to the top of the head and that’s when the fight was waved off at 2:05 of round three....

This event took place 3/04/11 at the Jostens Center in Orlando Florida and was aired live on ESPN2.
The main event featured unbeaten light heavy weights Ismayl Silakh 15-0 taking on Cuban Olympian and light heavyweight standout Yordanis Desaigne 8-1. After scoring a clean knockdown in the second round, Silakh showed great boxing skills as he out pointed Desaigne for ten rounds. Plenty rode behind this fight, both entered the ring with awesome amateur experience. Silakh showing should place him right into the mix for a title shot.
