A letter and a few questions for Manny Pacquiao
December 29, 2009
To me and many others it’s plain and simple, for a fighter who says he
would never dodge anyone it sure seems you’re doing one hell of a job at
dodging Floyd Mayweather Jr. for whatever reason you may have. Don’t you
want to be involved in probably the largest fight in the history of boxing?
Don’t you want your name to go in the books as one of the greatest boxers
who ever fought? Isn’t that every pro-fighters dream?
Manny, How did you and your people let this mess go this far? All you had
to do is say "yes" to the blood test. I’m really having problems
understanding why a procedure as simple as a blood test to rule out the use
of illegal performance enhancers is causing such a fuss for you. Floyd said
he’d take the blood and urine test, Manny why can’t you do the same?
Unless.... lets no go their...
Didn’t you make a statement a few days ago on your blog, like the day
after Christmas that isn’t so credible stating you where not comfortable
taking a blood test closer than thirty days before a fight? Then it’s
discovered that you actually took a blood test fourteen days before your
fight with Ricky Hatton. Is this thirty day no blood test thing something
new? Just asking....
Manny you probably don’t believe it, but to many of the boxing
aficionados who actually pay you to fight are really starting to believe
that you’re making your promoter Bob Arum look really bad, he just like
everyone else wants to see this fight happen. Concession after concession
the people from Golden Boy and Floyd’s people are bending over backwards,
and can you believe so is YOUR promoter Bob Arum just to see this fight take
place. Is it maybe because you don’t want to fight Floyd? Again, just
asking...
Can you believe even the last fighter you beat, Miguel Cotto is shocked
at YOUR refusal to admit to the testing? Yes, Cotto’s all for the testing,
he says "it is the only way to ensure that the outcome of the bout is the
strict result of conditioning and ability" he’s also stated "to magnify your
talent with drugs is repulsive". I like many boxing aficionados must agree
with Cotto.
"Liars go to hell?" What’s that all about? Manny I have feeling that this
wasn’t a great boxing Christmas for you. I can understand you’re probably
really pissed off about now, but who’s to blame, no one but you. Right from
the start all you had to do was agree to take the blood test, it’s not like
you never had one before.... remember fourteen days before the Ricky Hatton
fight, same thing.
One more thing Manny, what’s up with this law suit thing we all keep
hearing about? Please correct me if I’m wrong, so you’d rather fight Floyd
Mayweather Jr. in a court room than in a boxing ring on Pay Per View and
take away the millions you could have earned? Manny, I can assure you you’re
not going to get paid the right way in a court room and besides those things
aren’t shown on Pay Per View and if it was who would order it.
You probably already know this but if you don’t, get ready because people
are going to talk bad about you, even the notorious boxing conspiracy
theorists will come out with mind boggling theories about your rise in the
world of boxing and how it was done and immediately patch it right into
what’s going on now. What’s amazing is this could have all been avoided....
The fight that every boxing fan wants to see is Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd
Mayweather Jr. and we want to see it on March 13, 2010. My humble advice to
you is, Manny if you really want all this to end on a good note for everyone
involved, including the fans, just extend your arm, let them take the blood
and start training for the fight against Floyd. No one wants you be the guy
who refused probably the biggest fight in boxing history because you refused
to take a blood test to prove you don’t take illegal performance enhancing
drugs. Make it your business to be on the good side of boxing history.
Peace and best of luck to you.
