Pacquiao KO's Hatton in 2! By Enrique Olivieri 4/03/09

This event took place on May 2, 2009 and was aired live on HBO PPV.

No one should question it any more, Manny Pacquiao (now 49-3-2 37 KO's) is the reigning pound for pound fighter in the world today. It only took Pacquiao two rounds totally dominate then knockout Britan's Ricky Hatton (45-2 32 KO's) in a fight that everyone thought would be a fight that would be talked about for ages. Pacquiao came into the fight with the glory of being the fighter who forced Oscar De La Hoya to retire after beating him up last year, Hatton was on a two fight win streak and was know being trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr. It was great stuff for the HBO 24/7 series that hyped this fight, but when both entered the ring it was a different story.  Right from the opening bell Pacquiao broke the ice by landing a lightning fast right,  he then followed it up with left hooks to the head of Hatton. Towards the end of the first round, Pacquiao floored Hatton with nasty right, Hatton made the eight count and out of the first round.

Round two Hatton came out like a ball of fury, Pacquiao used great movement to evade most of Hatton's attack. Hatton again tried his roughness to no avail, though Hatton was connecting occasionally Pacquiao was giving back twice a s much. During an exchange Pacquiao lands the left hand from hell and drops Hatton, Referee Kenny Bayless didn't even count because the fight was over before Hatton hit the mat. The end came at 2:59 of round two.
