Abregu KO's Garcia in a War!

This fight took place on May 1, 2009 and was broadcast live on SHOBOX from
the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California
With three knockdowns in four rounds and punches flying from the opening
bell, Luis Carlos Abregu (now 27-0, 22KO's) found himself in a very
unexpected war against Irvng Garcia (now 17-4-3, 8KO's) after all Garcia was
not known as a power puncher with just eight knockouts. Right from the start
the undefeated Abregu got dropped and was almost out in the first minute of
the fight, somehow this tough as nails fighter got up. In the second
round Abregu started to hit Garcia with everything but the kitchen sink for
but Garcia wasn't going anywhere. These two fighters where not trying to
establish any type of game plan, they where swinging for KO's. In the fourth
round Garcia caught Abregu with a left that should have ended the fight,
some how the undefeated Argentinian fighter got up, you talk about the heart
of a fighter! Garcia with the fight all but won attacked but again Abregu
had different plans, he somehow dropped Garcia against the ropes, though on
his way to beat the count the referee did the right thing and stopped the
contest at 2:59 of round four. This was the best fight I've seen this year
so far.
